New build, new ideas...

So I thought it might be fun — well maybe not fun — to document my new build as I go. At least I'm going to try. Who knows? It may just turn out to be yet another way to procrastinate.

Right. Before any build, there's some thinking to do. Considerations. So let's look at our parameters...

1. Terraformability of the land:
This plot is fully terraformable. The other folks have sea-level at 21m. By the way, can I say how much I love that SL is metric? Yeah, well, anyway... So with that terraformability we have one less constraint. If it weren't terraformable, we'd have to build to conform. But as it is, the world is my oyster. However, this isn't exactly always a good thing. Sometimes good ideas come from having constraints.

2. Size of land:
The rough buildable space is 60m x 45m. That's lots of room. Way lots. So far it's looking like my constraint based ideas aren't going to be forthcoming. My natural inclination upon looking at the land is that the orientation is such that the land is deeper than it is wide. There aren't any overt indicators of this, as there's no roadside or anything, but that feels about right. (You're going to hear a lot about "it feels like x" as I go on.)

3. Build agreements / covenants.
None. Well. Okey dokey. The only rule, it seems, is don't be laggy. I can do that.

4. Neighbors:
It's always good to be considerate of one's neighbors. So what do their builds look like? Would any potential build of ours grossly conflict with theirs, stylistically? Also, are we going to have to use any of our precious prims to er... not exactly blot out, but camouflage any of the neighbor's peccadilloes?

Well, North of me is a boxy cinderblock-looking building. Northwest is a club that's actually not entirely tacky. West is the prim bank, an empty lot used to supply me and my neighbors with surplus prims. Due south is an unrented lot (if anyone wants to be neighborly) and east is the end of the world. Okay then.

5. Prim allotment: 1203. Dang that's a lot. Good, since I tend to be quite liberal with them.

So those are our considerations, or lack thereof. Next post I'll take on some more content oriented questions:

A. What will it be for?
B. Who will be the primary consumers?
C. What vernacular will it be in? (eg. Steampunk, Retro-Future, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern, Arboreal, etc.)
D. There is no D.
