A day chock full of adventure and excitement...
In which our hero meets a Giraffe, takes the Equestrian club on a tour, finds an old friend, and much much more...
So lately I find myself giving tours of the Ruins nearly every time I log on. (No SLurl handy, but it's in my picks). Yesterday I was on for about an hour or so and gave three tours. Today I gave two. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it. I've got a good patter down now. I can suss out fairly quickly if the crowd cares about my faux history or just wants to see the build. If they want to hear about my ideas on avatar-object interaction or on gender perceptions and traditional (and non-traditional) roles as applied to SL. And you had better belive I can get pretty durned Jungian. Sometimes they may just want me to shut up and be cute, and you know what? I can do that, too.
I also love meeting new people, so it's been a treat. And I haven't been getting any SL work done anyway, so it's no distraction.
Today started off with my heading over to help Serra get the Caledon Community Centres set
up (the kiosk system I wrote to go in the prize winning kiosk model). It worked, everyone was ecstatic, hundreds of admirers threw roses... Well, not the roses part but the rest was true... As we were finishing up, I got an in-world IM from an old college friend of mine I found through an article on 3pointD.com.
My friend, Trevor Steptoe in SL, was one of those people who I could always talk about highfalutin' ideas with and today was no difference. He'd been indifferent to SL, but I'm pretty sure I got him thinking...
Then, as I was chatting with another friend, the Equestrian Club, led by Vulpine Eldrich, rode up and the touring recommenced! This was a fun group. I don't think the Hall of Worlds has had so many people in it. And it's a small space, despite appearances.
When we got to the underwater part of the build, a few folks whipped out their diving suits, complete with harpoons and bubbles, while I posed with Pixie. (I'm the one with all of the teeth. Okay... the one in green.)
And as turnabout is fair play, we took a tour of Pixie and her partner's place (someone should have been jotting these names down if they were going to blog about it...) which was delightful. They have a glass bottomed living room floor where you can see fish and a little yellow submarine... We spent the remainder of the evening relaxing by the pool. Quite the bundle of fun. In fact, I'd say that it measured about two point seven metric barrels of monkeys worth of fun. And that, as you all know, is quite a bit.
